Part 5: Drop the Anchor, Boys!

It's getting tiring when researches always need to be done. What now? Obviously, an FTP client (will be typed as 'ftp' afterwards). For the noobies, ftp means File Transfer Protocol. What the heck is that? Briefly, the ftp was one of the first efforts to create a standard means of exchanging files over a TCP/IP network, roughly since the 1970's.  The ftp was designed with as much flexibility as possible, so it could be used over networks other than TCP/IP, as well as being engineered to have the capability with exchanging files with a broad variety of machines.

Now you know what ftp is, thus it's time to choose the client. Without the client, how can you transfer the files? There are too many clients offered in the market. Some need to be bought, some can be used for free, etc. My intention is, to go for freeware. Of course you can use pirated version if you have any but hey, I'm not recommending. Use it at your own risk. Bah!

After googling around, I came across GoFTP. Hmm..freeware. They claimed to be the fastest and easiest FTP Client available. Yummy...I use numerous ftp clients before but most of them are trial version. Guess nobody wants to pay without testing it first, am I right? The installation was no brainer. It is very easy to setup plus, they provide 'Help' files for the beginner. Ah, that reminds me of CuteFTP, another paid client which is also a great software.

However, while enjoying myself using this software, I encountered something funny. This client seems to integrate their codes into php files, creating a linkback to their page. A credit perhaps? Not only that, it also points to Search AllinOne, a search engine that I never heard of. I don't know how they did it. Maybe it has something related to file permission settings. Need to check that again. By the way, here's the image that describes my statement. <hover your mouse here>

I guess, that's the price we have to pay when using free software. Hey, nothing comes for free, remember? I'm not against it but somehow they should mention this in their website. By the way, it happens whenever you let the previous files overwritten. If it's the first upload, I notice no alteration. My guess, it has something to with 'on-the-fly file compression for faster transfer speed.

However, I still recommend this client as it is one of the fastest client I use--except that if you don't mind to remove this so called 'credit'. Once all the completed contents have been uploaded, it's time for checking. Who knows, something goes wrong somewhere. Be it wrong link, error page etc., it's all irritating not only to me, but you as well.

Fuh...I'm glad everything run perfectly as planned. So what next? Hmm..How about adding some interactivity in this website? I wish the contents published herein can be commented by the visitors. Time to look for comment scripts!
